Years ago, I received my first pair of Macs. Back then a single wild caught pair would set you back $400 (nowadays it still occasional does). Prior to obtaining the pair, I made it a point to scour every book and internet resource to obtain as much information as I could on the species, but most of the info out there were copies of Regan's original (1910) paper. There was a lot of info describing things like wild habitat, behavior and all that good info, but there just wasn't enough info on practical fish keeping for Mac hobbyists. Many successful aquarists through trial and error or otherwise, have come up with great practical ways to keep and care for these great fish, but these are mostly unpublished.

This web site aims not only to share my personal experience in keeping Macs, but to consolidate a database of information from various sources including various submitted information. If you wish to contribute any good info, tips & tricks feel free to contact me.
